How do I qualify to receive a "Welcome Celebrations" tote?
The newcomers I greet must be referred by one of our Associate Sponsors or be new homeowners or home renters who have arrived within the last year from out of state or at least 40 miles away. My service is specifically designed to help new people who are unfamiliar with where to go and what to do in the area. If you are not sure if you qualify, please contact me to find out.
What is in the "Welcome Celebrations" tote and what will I learn from the visit?
First, based on the information I receive from you, each tote is personalized to your needs - i.e. if you have children, pets, etc. You will receive a wide range of information on local activities, events and places to visit around the area all courtesy of our local tourism office. In addition, you will receive information from our sponsors who provide us with gifts and gift certificates to welcome you to the area. The gifts are great because they give you a place to start and a reason to get out and explore not just the town you live in but the neighboring towns as well. I will show you tips on how to know when and where things are happening in the area. When I first arrived, I felt like I found out about events after they happened and the local residents always knew everything since most events usually occur around the same time each year. I was always playing catch up. I can help you avoid that.
What is the Coulee Connection Newcomers Club?
The idea for the club began as I would visit a newcomer and know they would connect great with someone else I had just
visited and I wanted to connect them to each other. One thing I know from our many moves is that I've always felt an automatic connection to other newcomers when we've moved to a new area. It's nice to have someone to share experiences and resources and someone who understands the excitement and challenges you face during a relocation. That is the whole point of the club!
So, as a newcomer, you are automatically included in our club and will receive monthly emails with updates on local events and activities so you don't miss out on anything fun! Also, based on newcomer feedback and suggestions, we organize special "newcomer" events so you have the opportunity to meet and connect with others who are also new to the area. We have a wide range of planned activities during the day, evenings, and some weekends. Click on the "Join The Club" tab for more details.
What is the cost of the "Welcome Celebrations" tote?
This is a FREE service to you and an old-fashioned way for our community to say "Welcome" to our new neighbors. The sponsors are gracious enough to fund the welcomes.
How do you choose the Sponsors?
Based on my experience as a "professional" newcomer, I carefully select businesses with services or products I think might be helpful during your move or fun to visit as you explore your new home. I am selective about the sponsors and try to choose services and products that you would need to make your move easier. I either use the services or my friends and associates use them. If a business contacts me, I visit their business, research them and ask around to make sure they are a business I would use. The benefit to you is that you can be sure that the businesses I refer are reputable and offer quality goods and services - leaving you more time to find and do other things.
What if I don't want to meet at my home?
I am very flexible and would be more than happy to meet you at another location at whatever time is convenient for you.
Can I refer another newcomer to your service?
Absolutely! I am always looking for newcomers and would appreciate that after you have been welcomed, you would always be on the lookout for others like you who would benefit from my services. Look for those moving vans in your neighborhoods or tell your new boss how I welcomed you and would be available to welcome other new employees from out of town!
Do you sell any personal information that I provide you?
No, I do not sell, share or give out any personal information that I receive from you with anyone not affiliated with my service. I use your information to make contact with you. I also share your information with my sponsors after I have contacted you so they know to expect your arrival to their businesses. These sponsors sign an agreement that they will NOT share your information with anyone else and they agree NOT to solicit you. It is our goal as a Welcome Celebrations Team to truly "welcome" you with the hope you will enjoy the gifts and visit the sponsors and keep coming back on your own.
As a recent newcomer and someone who has moved many times, I know what it is like to be new and the many challenges you face. I hope you will allow me to personally welcome you to our wonderful community!! My goal is to make your transition to the area a smooth one and to make sure that you are well equipped with all the resources and information that you need.
